𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚

 

 Today, 60% of the Bartenders in the world are women. Despite these numbers, many barmaids still struggle for basic recognition and respect. In India, when a woman say that she wants to pursue her career as a barmaid, the society see her with a different perspective. Only 5% of the Bartenders are women in India. Not only in Bartending but also in Hospitality industry, the ratio of the men and women working in this industry is 80:20. Yes, this is harsh but a reality . 

In this 21st  century, women are doing exceptionally well in almost all the sectors still when it comes to Hospitality Industry , the struggle of recognition and respect for women especially as a barmaid is real. Usually people think it is not good for women to work late at night especially in the places like Bar and Clubs. My question to them is, if a girl or a woman can do night shifts in hospitals as a doctor or a nurse, in multinational companies, as a journalist and in other such sector, then why it is not considered good for a woman working as a barmaid at night. 

It is a profession and needs to be respected and recognized as any other profession. All I want to say, if a woman wants to pursue her career in Bartending she should do with it pride. There is nothing wrong in this.
